The Good-bye Gilmore Girls Contest

So, you may have noticed, we (girl who knits and knitting lemonade) are sort of fans of the show Gilmore Girls. Ok, we're completely devoted. And since tonight we have to say a final good-bye to our best friends, Lorelai and Rory, we thought we would host a joint contest.

Here are the details:

  • Leave a comment on this post telling us your favorite Gilmore Girls moment from any of the seven seasons.
  • We will pool the comments from each blog, put it into one fabulously chic hat, and draw one lucky name. This person will get a care package from “Stars Hollow”.
  • You can enter twice if you leave a comment on BOTH blogs, but it has to be a different Gilmore Girls moment.
  • You have until Thursday, May 17th, midnight (MDT) to enter.

So tonight, order way too much take-out, grab some tissues (and your knitting), and watch our favorite Girls say good-bye. That is what two sisters in Salt Lake City are going to be doing.

There are so many, but I still laugh when I think of Kirk and his night terrors at the opening of Lorelei and Sookie's Inn. The one where he runs out of the front door naked. Very funny.

I'd have to say when Rory saw Jess right before Sookie's wedding and she kisses him. That moment is so classic teenager.

Thanks for reminding me tonight's the end. I'll have to tune in.

Hi!

What a great idea.

Too many favorites, but I absolutely love all of the random Stars Hollow events that happen in the city-center. From snowmen building contests, Knit-a-thons, Dance Marathons, Egg Hunts, Kitty funerals, the list goes on and on. I want to live in a town like Stars Hollow.

There really are too many. I could maybe limit it if it were favorite moment from each season, or episode.

What about when the whole town stays overnight at the inn? Laughs every minute!

Thanks for the contest!

my favorite is the thanksgiving where suki did not get to cook the turkey, they deep fryed it. And by the time the girls got to suki's house, after hitting three other places) suki was drunk and the rest of the gang was deep frying anything they could get their hands on.

Gilies I say good-bye. I loved the fast witted banter between Lorelei and Rory.

But I really enjoyed the snow obsessions. Them running outside and feeling the magic of snow. Lorelei willing the snow not to come till her and Rory are talking again. Simple things.

I already entered at Girl Who Knits, so I'll have to share my second fave here.
After Jess gets goosed in the eye and he and Luke are out in the canoe on the lake looking for the goose. Just that whole plot line and all the great jabs that Luke gets in about it.

Ahh--I know, I can't believe they canceled it! I loved it when they had the town knit-a-thon and the entire episode had little bits about knitting in it--ball winders and swifts at Luke's dinner, Lorelei knitting on the phone, the giant yarn ball, etc. What will we do without it!

Though sort of creepy, I love when Kirk plays Tevia in the Elementary School production of Fiddler on the Roof.

Great moments...ah, what a fun show. Totally got a kick out of the knit-a-thon episode...this will be living in blog land forever :)

I love virtually every moment that Paris is a part of. She's so harsh, but she's so hilarious.

I've only watched season one so far.
My favorite moment on that season is when right after Rory & Dean break up she won't "wallow"
Then at the end of one of the episodes, she decides to "wallow" & Loreli comes home from getting back with Max & Rory is sitting on the couch with HUGE tubs of Ben & Jerry's, and she goes "I'm ready to wallow"------such a great mom/daughter moment.

I like the episode where Rory and Paris go on spring break, but as we all know they aren't your typical spring breakers!

Two words: Cat Kirk. I love the entire Deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving episode but Kirk takes the cake. I've watched that episode a zillion times. I love it!

Kirk: When the attacks got particularly brutal, I had no choice but to strip naked and hide underwater in the
bath tub. I read that cats are afraid of water.
Babette: They are! They are!
Kirk: Kirk isn't!! He found me! And...(struggles) he seemed to derive greater power from the water. Thats when the bulk of the scratching happened. I'm scratched over 60% of my body.

as i mentioned on girl who knits blog, i love gg but don't have a good memory when it comes to tv. however, i will always remember when rory dropped out of school and moved into her grandparents. that poolhouse (or whatever it was) could not have been more posh. it was crazy.

I love when Cleatus, the horse, falls in love with Lorelei and he ends up standing in the Dragon Fly!

Favorite moments continued from your sister's site...

I think I love anything with Dave Rygalski because I have a huge crush on Adam Brody.

Loved it when Gil and Brian sang that Gwen Steffani song at the bar mitfa.

Maybe when Sookie and Jackson realize they're growing a pot field in their back 40. And then cart it all over town.

Or when Paris and Doyle learn that deadly kung fu stuff.

Doggy Swame? Pippy virgin? Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer? The crazy festivals....

I just can't decide on a favorite. I'm sure you guys feel the same way. What are yours??

Another great moment is at the end of Liz'a wedding when Luke is shyly telling Loreili that he had fun and that they should do it again. He was so hansome and Loreili looked so pretty in her dress and flowers in her hair. Oh, and in the next episode when she was a total clutz around him!

This is really more than 1 moment. I love Taylor's crazy rules and ideas and how Luke just think Taylor's off his rocker and never wants to participate which drives Taylor insane...such as the candy store Taylor opens next door with the giant glass in the wall between the diner and the candy store, or the red light camera on the one traffic light in town and Kirk crashes through Luke's window in the demonstration, or Luke not providing free coffee for the dance-a-thon because it's for a good cause (yet another assinine way to raise money for that bridge they're always fixing!)....ahhh, makes me want to live in a crazy small town.

My absolute favorite moment was back when Luke and Lore were together and Emily tried to split them up. Luke didn't talk to Lorelei for a while. When he finally realized how much he needed her he goes to her house and when she answers the door, he just grabs and kisses her. Love that moment.

I got another fave but I should probably put that on Girl Who Knits :)

i absolutely love the moment when luke is soooo frustrated with jess's bad boy behavior that he unexpectedly pushes him off the bridge. despite my deep and abiding love for jess, even thinking of that scene still makes me giggle. second place would go to any other moment involving jess ;)

far far too many to pick one, or even two, but one of my favorite moments is the friday night dinner after rory and lorelei make up after rory took time off from yale, the dinner where all the gloves come off and the secrets come out, and one minute they are arguing intensely about the rory/lorelai/college time off issue, the next minute they are laughing hysterically about emily wanting to buy a plane, then her and richard are arguing about it, and so on. it was one of the most intense friday night dinners EVER. =]

I think one of my favorite moments is when Luke decides to buy the Twickham house, with thoughts of him and Lorelai down the road. It made me love him even more!!
