Gretel der zweite

Gretel is finished! Wow, that was totally deja vu...

Knitting "Gretel the Second" was pretty painless. The lessons I learned from my first version made knitting this one a breeze. Dare I say it? The tubular cast-on was easy-peasy this time around. Also, I used the right weight of yarn, so I didn't need to do any math to try to compensate for extra pattern repeats. Lastly, I did the regular size tam, versus my first fitted version. The regular size has a nice balance, it still looks fitted (I didn't want it too look slouchy) but it also has enough room where it looks size appropriate on a six-foot tall amazon.

Want the real dirt? Here are the stats of Gretel the Second:
Pattern:
Gretel by ysolda
Yarn: Queensland Collection's Kathmandu Aran in 128
Made for: Moi
Needle Size: US 5 and 7 dpns, US 7 circ (16")
Date Started: November 19, 2007
Date Completed: November 30, 2007

There is one thing...from certain angles, I think this Gretel makes me look like the Peculiar Purple Pie Man of Porcupine Peak. What do you think? (Don't mind me, I am just twirling my imaginary villain mustache.)

Rat-ta-ta-ta-ta-tah, ta-ta-ta-ta-tah!

My boyfriend once told me that it looked like a nuclear bomb explosion. Guys can be so sweet, right? The way the cables are spaced out in the pattern does make it look pretty awkward if I just set it on top of my head. hah. Yours is super cute! (Good thing it's an imaginary mustache.) :)

I love the hat! I think I am a total convert to the whole hat thing now. Great...just what I need...another thing to get obsessed about. LOL. I totally hadn't planned on making a Gretel hat...but I really like yours.

I'm a sheep. Hear me say BAA! BAA!

I'm completely in love with that hat. I need one immediately. Or, like, relatively soon since I'm not actually going to have any time to make it immediately. Good job, you!

gretel the second looks absolutely fabulous on you! i love the yarn you used, it's surprisingly soft considering the uber tweediness.

and you don't look very villainy to me...

I think the important question is it you that is trying to look like the villian or the other way around? Either way, the hat is way cute and I must admit that now I want to make one too!

How long did it take you, your post says you started it in Nov. but doesn't say the day?
