Soaking in Bath

Bath has always been a retreat for the people of Britain, from the ancient Romans to Jane Austen to, well, me. This past weekend, my friend Emilia and I left London behind and headed to the Welsh countryside. During our weekend we made a special trip to Bath to soak in all its diversions (Ok, I know I already used that pun in the title, but seriously, we were sopping wet from the rain in Bath, so I’ll use it as liberally as I want.).

The Roman Baths. The Romans loved a good public bath. And you know what? So did I.

The Pump Room. In Jane Austen times, this was the place to be. Taking a turn about the room was an event.

The fountain that spews Bath’s famous mineral water.

Drinking the famous water in the Pump Room. They say it is good for you, but it kinda tastes like rotten eggs. Delish.

Pulteney Bridge.

The Royal Crescent.

I just love the curves of these houses.

Me, Emilia, and Lorraine (our fab hostess).

Random Bath Shots.

Ok, feel free to be jealous. It was just as great as it looks.

Coming up…tales from Wales. Oh, how I adore rhymes.

And jealous I will be!!! What a fab mini-holiday weekend! I would be scared to drink rotten water but with the coughing I have right now, I would totally chug it down! Your photos were lovely and you look radiant...the mineral water did you well...xoxox

I want to go to Bath. And Wales. Pretty much everywhere you are going. 17 more sleeps and I have no need to be jealous anymore!!!

I remember when I visited Bath - it was fun. Were the half-naked male duo street performers in shiny speedos still there? I was there in 2000.

Kara- I'm so glad I found you! You look great and I'm jealous that you're spending your time right now in London! How exciting for you! I've joined the blogging world and am having a blast finding people from the BYU days. Take care and let me know when you get your novel out. You always were such a great writer! -Julie

I just watched this DVD all about Ireland and the UK with Samantha Brown (I think it was her) at my cousin's a couple weeks ago. She said the same thing about the Bath pump room water.

Oh I am so jealous! Your travels sound amazing. Keep the blogs coming so I can at least experience it vicariously. :)

Kara! I am so excited that you are having such an amazing experience. I wish I could be there with you! Unfortunately, Windows of the World did not feature Bath, so you win on this one! Bath looks amazing...as do you!

Oh you took some great pics. I'm from the north of England originally, but I visited Bath one time too, and the pics brought it all back :)

Oh, Bath! I have turned green. As green as the inside of the pump in the Pump Room.

When you go to the lake district, you need to go to Keswick and go to this cute little shop called "Temporary Measure". It's run by a cute young couple that print beautiful photos on organic cotton canvases. I promise, you won't be disappointed!
