My Flat: The Sunroom "After" Edition

After sitting empty for so long, my sunroom is finally a real, bonofide, 100% gen-u-ine room. With furniture and everything!

When looking at the place as a potential buyer (who am I kidding, I knew I was going to buy it as soon as I walked through the door, but for the sake of the post, just go with me), the sunroom was a huge selling point. It is a nook in all its glory. Perfect for pondering, reading, and just being darling. So after I moved in, I wanted to make sure I did this room justice.

As a result, it stayed empty for a long time. I was scouting for just the right furniture and accents that would give it just the right vibe. But this weekend. I was able to call it good. Last Friday, I got the last, and biggest piece of the sunroom puzzle...the settee.

I have been pondering this piece of furniture for a long time. This particular one I got at Target. Yes, THAT Target! This is when it pays to take your time and shop around. I have found this exact settee (don't you just love that word, "settee") on several sites, including Urban Outfitters, for hundreds of dollars more. So yes, Target has won me over once again. Oh, you!

And I assembled it, all by myself. Yeah, that's right. Who needs a man? (BTW, if any of you know a dude that can hang a mirror for me, just give me a holler.)

What I really like about this room are the details. Like my wall collage (maybe I will detail that in another post), the rug I got from Anthropologie, the suitcase with vintage travel labels on it, and the birdcage I found at a consignment store. And if you are ever stumped on what to put in an old birdcage, try a complete set of Jane Austen novels and some favorite tea cups. Just a suggestion.

Je t'aime the perfect room. I'm dying a little that I don't have that EXACT room in my house right now. It's my fave.

Wow Kara,

Your sunroom is amazing. You should have little Salon gatherings and read poetry from your lounge.

Oh my gosh I can't believe you got that at Target! Wow!

I mean I knew they had some cute stuff... but wow!

OK, even though I have a husband, I usually wind up putting together furniture and stuff. This is because a)if I don't do it, it won't get done for like 6 months and b)I am actually willing to read directions and do it right instead of just trying to figure things out.

You have a beautiful style. Love the birdcage and how you used it. The sunroom looks so cozy that a book or knitting would be so enjoyable in it. I had to show my mom and she agrees on what a great job you did.

Target (finally!) opens here March 8! Could you come make me a room like this? Please?

I think it's safe to say that if I had that room in my house, I would only leave for food (which I would then bring back to that room) and the bathroom. Too awesome!

GORGEOUS! Can you come decorate my house???

Oh, it's a lovely little room. The sun porch in our house was a big selling point for us too. Love it!

What a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sun! The settee is gorgeous, and I love your wall collage :)

So pretty! I love all the colors. That is how the best rooms are made, living with them for a bit and seeing what is around! Congrats

I love your room! It's so pretty and personal, and the settee just makes it cozy and stylish at the same time.

I wish you lived closer so you could share some of your decorating flair with me.

Dude, will you come decorate MY home?

And as for mirrors, I recommend double-sided tape. That tends to muck up the walls, but I figure that's better than not being able to see your face. (Then again, on a bad day, maybe that's an okay thing for me after all...)

I LOVE this room! I just want to grab a book and curl up and read all day. What a perfect room! I'm so glad you liked the FB P&P. I found it so cute and it reminded me of you. Back to those freshman sundays and a dvd of P&P. :) You are fabulous at knitting. How long have you been doing it? I am slowly learning to crochet. This is slightly long. Maybe I should have just written you on FB...Glad we can catch up.
