Can I get a hoot hoot?

Well here it is, my new warm and woolly sweater. Just in time for spring. I've always suffered from impeccable timing. But regardless of the beautiful weather out my window, I'm pretty excited about my new knit.

Here are those all-important stats...

Pattern: Owls
Source: Kate Davis
Yarn: Knit Picks Swish Bulky
Made for: Moi
Needle Size: US 10 and 10 1/2
Date Started: February 7, 2009
Date Completed: March 22, 2009
Mods: Due to my gauge, I ended up knitting the largest size in order to fit a 38" bust. Oh, and I added quite of bit of length to the torso and the arms.

This is the best kind of pattern. Easy to knit and darling to boot. It goes to show you, a cute sweater doesn't need a lot of bells and whistles, just lots and lots of buttons. And after visiting two separate JoAnn's, I was able to get those pesky buttons. Who knew finding 42 matching was such a herculean task?

But in the end, all that effort was worth it. Don't you think so?

There's just one thing. I worry that with this sweater, people will keep saying to me, "Nice hooters." (Sorry, Mom and Dad, I couldn't help myself.)

So perfect! I think my Owls is one of my most favorite sweaters ever. Only, people mostly don't notice that they're owls because mine's so dark. That's ok, though. It's like a little secret just for me.

So darn cute! I love working the little owl cable patterns -- it seems like magic. Let us know how the Swish bulky holds up!

I'm sad to hear your grandfather past away. I'm sure this is a hard time for you and your family. I'm glad you'll be able to be there with them.

PS I wasn't sure about the shaping on the back, I was thinking about moving it over to the sides when I knit this. But after seeing yours I think its ok right where it is. Looks great!

This is my FAVORITE! So beautifully done! I love the owls! Is there really a pattern like this for wee ones? If so I would love it if you could point me there (my girls love owls too). I must see this sweater in person sometime.
