My Flat: The Creative Room "After" Edition

There is one room of the flat I haven't shown you, yet it is one of my favorites. It is what I like to call "My Creative Room." (Doesn't that sound sooo Martha Stewart?) Why call it that, you may ask? Well, it is the room in my house where I hold all things creative, including my reading books, my crafts, and my writing desk.

Here's my writing desk. I love to look out the window and write. Whether it's a novel, blog post, or an e-mail.

This is the "Armoir of creative things." I love it's pretty hand-painted flowers. Wanna peak inside?
(Click on the link to see.)

Of cour
se, this room is home to my books.
There's a lot of Young Adult fiction in there. I can't help myself. Secretly, I'm still a dealing with my teen angst.

What would a room of mine be without those little "Kara" details?

Virginia Woolf suggests that women should have "a room of one's own" if they are to write fiction. She thinks having a space dedicated to your craft gives you a freedom to create. As a woman who aims to do this, I have taken Ms. Woolf's advice. I've just expanded the concept to include a couple of extra creative endeavors.

This room is yet another delight. It's so refreshing to me as a designer that you know your style. And it suits you to a t. Because I have studied all sorts of designs and decor, I can't really decide what my favorite is--I'm having an identity crisis!

I think your writing desk is my most favorite piece of furniture in the room. Where did you find such a pretty thing? And, of course, the organization of the armoire is just mindblowing. I'm trying to figure out a way to organize my yarn stash, and with a terrible ocd tendency, nothing seems to really latch on and keep me happy. I like the stackable plastic tubs, to keep moths out of wool/cashmere/silk and to keep dust away from everything.

I don't see any idea/inspiration/wish boards! Do you have one anywhere? If not, I recommend you start one immediately. And get a really funky lamp, just for kicks.

I love that you have crayons just in case!

Crayons are a fun link to childhood that should always stay with a person :)

Love, love love it! I had dreams of a room like this--instead that space is now occupied by a crib, a couple of oscillating fans, and a bunch of stuff destined for Goodwill. =)

And, YA fic's a guilty pleasure of mine, too =).

I am, also, still dealing with my teen angst. And, at the risk of getting on my soapbox, when did we decide that books about children are for children? Love the room!

Catching up on blog posts. I love your room! Isn't it wonderful to have a space for all of your creative pursuits?!

I really enjoy mine, though I still get the creeps from working my last job in there. (I telecommuted). Hopefully one day I'll forget it completely, but in the meantime, I love having space for all my hobbies.
