Olympics Loves Knits

My dear friend, Jeff, was lucky enough to attend the opening ceremonies for the Olympics in Vancouver. After a fun-filled weekend, he returned home and brought me a little surprise.

Only the "It" item of the Olympics--Canadian mittens!

I heart them. But how could you not love the chunky knit fabric and the maple leaf on the paw? They make me proud to be half-Canadian.

Thanks, Jeff! (Especially for not giving in to the flight attendant that tried to buy them off you on your flight home.) If thoughtfulness was an Olympic sport, you'd be a gold medalist.

BTW--How darling was Lindsey Vonn's knit hat? Super adorbs.

You are a little posting machine. I can't keep up with you. So jealous of the mittens. But, it's supposed to be in the 70s here tomorrow so what need have I for mittens? Be jealous of that!

And I'm glad you said that about Lindsay's hat, I was so interested in her hat that I didn't even listen to what she was saying :)

Wow, I can't believe my name made it onto the pages of Knitting Lemonade. Look how the Olympic mittens have brought us all together.

How fun to be half Canadian! My grandparents were born in Canada, but my mom was born in Detroit. Do you count that as a nationality? My Great Grandparents came to Canada from Ireland, Scotland, & England...One marriage wasn't looked well upon by the folks in the old country! Cute mittens!

My Mom was visiting and she and I commented! "someone hand knit that hat!" and then "wow, that is some FANCY color work!" So cute too. And she is so cute.
