A tisket, a tasket, a picnic basket

LGRAB: Summer Games - New Territory: Have a bicycle picnic

I have had so much fun doing the LGRAB: Summer Games, it seemed only fitting that my last task would be something equally pleasant: Have a bicycle picnic.

I mean come on. A picnic basket comes standard on Adelaide. It was inevitable.

Picnic Basket

A PB and honey sandwich, almonds, homemade cookies, some water, my book club book, iPod...all a picnic make.

I decided to go to Memory Grove, a great quaint park tucked in a little canyon just east of the State Capitol building. It's dedicated to those that lost their lives in war. It's really a lovely place...

A perfect spot for a perfect picnic, don't you think?

Lovely photos! Looks like a great evening--I rather envy it. I'm not sure how the LGRAB is set up but if there's winning involved I think you should definitely take it!

lovely! i was just talking to someone yesterday about how pretty it is around SLC. Utah really has some great spots, and you have illustrated a lovely lovely one.

Now you've made me really want a bicycle with a basket so that I can go on picnics. Though it might help if it were a little more bicycle friendly around here.

Now that's my idea of a good time, too! Minus the physical activity part, but I suppose if there are books and sandwiches at the other end I'd get over it. :) Thanks for sharing your summer games with us.

THIS JUST IN:

I'm totally getting a bike for next summer and I am totally shadowing you.

I'm not kidding.

I'm really really not.

Nope. Not kidding.

I have a bike, she's not as lovely as Adelaide (her name is Calypso because she's as blue as the ocean and also, that's what's printed on her side), but she's a bike all the same. I want to go on a bike picnic with you. Let's.

I love it! Great photos. Now I want to take myself on a picnic. Except that I don't own a bike. Rats.

I have so enjoyed your bike posts! Very inspirational because they make biking so much fun (I need to work on that. Endurance is never fun. And hills are definitely not fun).

Chris always talks about a picnic, but we have to figure out how to get our stuff on the bike. I'm wanting a handlebar bag myself; I hate having to carry what little I take in a jersey pocket. You can't go to the used bookstore without some kind of bag!

Anyway, thank you for sharing such beautiful photos of your city with us. It looks like a wonderful place to ride, hills and all.
