Outlines of a Bicycle Girl

Bicycle girl outline

I've gotten to the point where the bicycle girl is outlined in thread. I could call it day. Or I could try to fill it in or embellish it in some way.

So your input is needed...
  • Should I fill in the hair/pants/bike? Or leave it just outlined?
  • Should I fill in one but not another? Like pants but not bike.
  • Should I try to add a background of some kind?
Thanks, peeps! I know you'll know what to do.

Ohmygosh, that is so adorable. It looks fine as is. If you really want to fill something in maybe the pants and a bird flying overhead. No matter what you decide, I'm sure it will look good.

It's such a cute design and your stitching is great! Don't do anything more or you can fill in what you want to highlight (like the bike?).

This is absolutely precious! I think I would leave it as is (or if the urge is overwhelming the pants only!), but it really is super as is. Your stitching is excellent.
I thought of you the other day. We have a little bicycle art controversy going on in Toronto!

It looks good as is, but I think filling in the pants might help to balance it. The hair and top have a lot of detail and the pants don't.

I think I vote for bike, with hair and pants second. Depending on how you are finishing the piece, you could do a black dotted line to put the bike on the road.

Kara, it look amazing!! I think I vote for filling in the pants, but honestly it looks absolutely lovely as is!

Lookin' good! I vote for filling in the bike. If anything because it would make the four parallel lines of stitching that make up the top and bottom tube look like two separate tubes, and not four lines or four very skinny tubes. Just my opinion. :)

you have been busy girl...so totally awesome! WOW! it stands on its own just as it is, but perhaps the pants? cut out some red construction paper and lay over the pants and see out that looks...

I would fill in the pants and maybe add some clouds in the sky. It looks fantastic!

I think it looks fab, but I'd think about filling in the bike to make it stand about a bit more, although I think she looks fab as she is, and filling her in might distract from the fantastic stitching. I'm sure it will look great whatever you decide.

I love it! I would go with filling in the bike.

With having two dark circles, it would even out the design by filing in the straight lines in the bicycle. This is so creative. Love your blog.

How cute is this? Very. Fill in or don't. Does that help?

That is so cute! I just saw the picture before I read the post. You could go either way it looks great as is!

I think you should fill in anything without a pattern in it (i.e. not the hair or shirt) maybe start with the pants and see how it goes, stopping when you feel it looks finished.

And it looks so incredibly cute, I love it so freaking much it makes me want to puke. That's a lot.

I really like it as it is :D (bet that wasn't what you wanted to hear ;P) x

It's so much fun! As I said on flickr, I love it the way it is, but a little more stitching won't hurt, and it will be fun! I like the suggestion of a birdie flying by.

Do you have access to Photoshop? Maybe you could scan her and then see what it looks like when you add some details on Photoshop.

She is quite lovely as she is... but perhaps a bluebird flying nearby? Or a sun in the sky? A tree? A cloud - you never know 'til you try!

(That would be my poetic answer)

Super cute. I'd say leave it but if you do something, pants but not bike. Love it!!

Love it! I vote to color it in. Right now she seems skeletal to me. Maybe you could just color in parts?! You are so talented :)

Inquiring minds want to know Kara...what did you decide?
