I don't know what it is about liquid liner that makes me have spazz hands but I can't seem to get it right. So I have decided to use this tutorial. The secret? Cello tape.
I just put the tape on my lower lids to curb my inability to draw a straight line.
| This picture puts me in a very vulnerable state with y'all. Be kind. |
Then I draw the liner on slowly.
After that, I peel up the tape, leaving a pretty little "flick." This creates a perfect foundation line to add to in order to achieve my desired level of cat-eye thickness.
Look, the process may not be pretty, but here are the results.

I'm not sure what type of liquid eyeliner you're using, but if you have trouble drawing a nice line, you might want to experiment with different applicator tips and different eyeliners. Some go on more smoothly than others and some require less effort to make a nice line than others.
You are brave to try liquid eyeliner...I go the pencil route. It doesn't create as fine a line, but it makes up for my lack of eyeshadow.
You are too funny!
Shall we add cat-eyes to our bicycles?
I recently discovered gel eyeliner. You put it on with an angled brush and I find it a lot easier. The cello tape trick looks good but. I always have trouble drawing the flick bit.
It came out amazing!
I am way too scared to try liquid liner because I'm 99% sure that I would come out looking like a crazy woman and that I would accidentally draw all over my face. Even regular eye liner scares me :)
I have to say the picture with the tape on your face, makes you look adorable. I have the same problem with eye liner, must try this
I saw the first picture before reading the text. I was a little worried, I must say... but the final result is good! Seriously, I suppose (yes, suppose) it comes with experience! It looks really nice on you!
Looks great! I love the look, but have never tried it before. I don't even own liquid liner, so I'm a long way from every achieving anything like that. :)
Nice look on you! What kind of liquid liner are you using? I was a spaz-and-a-half with liquid liner, but then I found Sephora's long-lasting liquid liner and for some reason I never have any problems with that one. But I've never tried to draw a cat eye, either.
I do believe there's a line in the Gilmore Girls about spending the summer perfecting their liquid eyeliner technique. (Rory's high school friends) So I guess it takes practice. :)
It looks like you're doing just fine and it won't take an entire summer.
You look gorgeous!
Your pun hilarity is awesome. I was going to tell you about gel eyeliner, but Kat beat me to it. I like the stila version.
Will you PLEASE wear your cello tape to the office!
it's so cute! I love it.
The sellotape idea is rather good; I tend to use a cotton wool bud (q-tip?) to tidy up any erratic lines...you look fantastic!
I freakin' love you!
I love it! Super cute! I can't try it, though. I'm blind in one eye so I can't ever wear eye-liner because I can't put it on when I close my eye that works! Crazy little fact! I've always been a bit sad I can't do that...my little sister used to put it on for me when I really wanted to rock the make-up!
It looks awesome! I love the cat-eye look but feel totally make-up incompetent :) I barely ever even break out the pencil. You did a great job!
Nice! Looks good on you too. Wow, I haven't used liquid eyeliner since HS. And I did get carried away back then and would end up "tattooing" my face b/c it was too much fun to just keep on drawing. :)
Try maybelline drama gel liner... And search YouTube for videos! Try tiffanyd her videos are great!
Nice! The Scotch tape thing is very clever.
Using the edge of a credit card also works if you don't like peeling tape off your face.
